From Twinkle, with Love by Sandhya Menon
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤
Similar Books: The Kissing Booth (Girl falls for her best friend's older brother causing general chaos in her life)
Romance, intrigue, drama, humor, and movie making, if you haven’t already picked up From Twinkle with Love just from that sentence, then what are you waiting for? Twinkle has two dreams, to become a famous and impactfull director, and for Neil Roy to acknowledge her existence and fall in love with her. So when Neil’s twin brother Sahil approaches her about making a movie together, Twinkle realizes maybe both of her dreams could come true! But as the movie making progresses, Twinkle finds herself having feelings for the wrong person, and just when it seemed like Neil had noticed her! This book is exactly what a contemporary YA romance novel should be. It has great character development with a totally original story, that provides great entertainment, while still giving exposure to greater world issues. Twinkle is very relatable, and while her drama sometimes feels a little unrealistic, it only adds to the story. I was really impressed by how satisfying the story was, as I am usually left wanting more after a standalone. It takes a lot of talent to effectively wrap up a story and still have it end with a bang. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute contemporary!

The Great GatsbyThe Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
My rating: ❤❤❤❤
Similar Books: Basically any classic with a hefty amount of judgement and sarcasm
The Great Gatsby explores a world of money, love, drama, and mystery. Nick Carraway has just moved to New York to pursue being a stock broker when he encounters the mysterious Jay Gatsby. Everything about Gatsby seems fake, yet Nick can't stay away. When he finds out there is a history between Gatsby and his cousin Daisy, Nick is pulled into a crazy affair and a course of events that leave you questioning what happens until the very end! I read this book in English class (not surprising) and I loved it! The imagery and metaphors are fantastic and the plot is some how slow and fast at the same time. The irony and sarcasm are amazing. This book is a classic and I think that a lot of teenagers have a hard time relating to it. I find that the story itself can be a little confusing as the writing is complex. This book definitely inspires deep thought and immerses you in the story. This is not a fast read, but it is an enjoyable one. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, although I think adults get a lot more out of it than teenagers.

The Smell of Other People's HousesThe Smell of Other People's Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock

Prepare to be taken on several amazing journeys of heart break, love, and the eternal bond of family. There is one rule in Alaska, you keep to yourself. This keeps things from falling to pieces, at least on the outside. This keeps Ruth's secret safe from embarrassing her family, keeps Dora from ever really getting away from her past, keeps Alyce from her dream, and Hank and his brothers from getting caught. But you can't hide everything and in one fateful summer many stories are woven together. This book is truly amazing. The writing is engaging and poetic, but still holds love, humor, action, and mystery. The book is slightly predictable, but in the right ways. Plenty of things keep you guessing and a lot of it makes you want to cry. Even though I have nothing in common with any of the characters, I felt myself connecting with each and every one of them on a very deep level. It is hard to discuss this book without spoiling it, but it is a perfect read for any person and any mindset. Definitely my favorite book up until this point for 2018.

Ties That Bind, Ties That BreakTies That Bind, Ties That Break by Lensey Namioka
My rating: ❤❤
Similar (and better) Books: Snow Falling on Cedars (Court trial with Japanese immigrants in a small town in the Pacific North West. An adult novel, but mature young adults can handle it.)
How the Garcia Girls Lost their Accents (Sisters move from the Dominican Republic to New York. The chronicling of it is very interesting time wise and it reminds me of Chronicle of a Death Foretold)
House on Mango Street  (Beautiful vignettes about a young Latina girl in Chicago)
Lensey Namioka gives an interesting viewpoint into the life of an intelligent female mind just trying to break free from the constricting chains of Chinese society. The time has come for Ailin's feet to be bound just like many young girls before her. But Ailin is much more interested in running free and attending school,  which is certainly not proper for a young lady of her social standing. Readers follow her on her journey to find a place to call home in a world of strict rules and standards. I think I might have liked this book more if I was in like 5th grade. The writing was just too simple. Also, I have never read a book that has repeated its main theme so many times. The phrase "Why can't my feet be free and unbound?" or just "bound feet" was essentially repeated at least once every page. Sometimes motifs are meant to be subtle. This one felt like the author was trying to pound it in my brain with a hammer. I do have great respect for the way the author portrayed the setting and wove in information that educated me on Chinese culture and history. Honestly, if I was younger and she had toned down the feet stuff, I think I would have enjoyed this book much more. Also, the romance did not make any sense. You don't meet someone and then just fall into eternal happiness and romance at like 14. (Unless you are Cassandra Clare and you handle it right). I hate it when people tone down love to give a convenient ending to a book. The only thing I really liked with this book was how the character actually did something with her life. I won't spoil it, but there is some cooking involved (and we all know how much I love cooking). Overall, you either need to read this book not expecting much from it, or you are really into learning about Chinese foot binding, or you are in like 5th or 6th grade.
The Eye of Minds (The Mortality Doctrine, #1)The Eye of Minds by James Dashner
My rating: ❤❤❤
Similar Books: Ready Player One (Virtual reality and a mystery)
I honestly wish I was a middle school boy because that would have made this book way more enjoyable. Michael is a gamer in the VirtNet and like most people, he spends his life in the bliss of virtual reality. But something is disturbing the VirtNet and the government wants Michael and his gang of hackers to help them solve their problem. Will it be dangerous? Yes. Will they kill him if he doesn't help? Yes. Will the mysterious gamer get him first? You will just have to read it to find out! This book is good and bad on so many different levels. The plot is all over the place. It is completely unbelievable, like this feels like it should be fantasy instead of science fiction. This also misrepresents coding and hacking. I am getting really tired of authors just deciding that all nerdy gamers are good at coding and just teach themselves how to hack into extremely hard systems and are always better than those who do it professionally. Even my friends who are great with technology and know how to code, have no clue how to hack, and just because someone knows how to play video games, it does not mean they know how to hack into the system. Hacking is basically the majority of the character's personalities. The characterization is very low in this book. Also, the government is totally wacky. The virtual reality is really cool though. The setting is interesting and the adventure is interesting. A lot of the book felt forced and like the author just wanted as many twists and turns as possible. Much of the book was predictable, but the ending came out of nowhere. Like way too out of nowhere. Like the author went all Divergent on us and basically took the plot of multiple different societies and forced them together. The only reason this book gets three stars is because it was kind of entertaining. Endings don't usually surprise me so I respect the author for that. Once you get 2/3rds of the way through the book the plot starts to make sense, there is a bit of humor, and you actually want to keep reading. The beginning is way too slow and there is a lot of unnecessary stuff. Basically, if you want a book that might confuse you a ton, but has an interesting quest, then this book is for you.
Zero DayZero Day by Jan Gangsei
My rating: ❤❤❤❤
Similar books: Diplomatic Immunity (I don't know why it just feels similar. If you want a little bit a mystery, an interesting main character, and a whole lot of romance try this)
The Fixer (Also about the government, warning-the beginning was so bland I could not keep reading)

Kidnapping, hacking into complex technology, the fate of the world at stake, and a fast paced look at the US government, what more could you want from a book? (Romance of course, but guess what, this book has that too!) Addie Webster was kidnapped eight years ago, leaving her family, her best friend, and her country mourning her loss. Now her father, Mark Webster, is the President of the United States and is desperately trying o fight against cyber terrorists. After tragedy strikes, Addie is suddenly returned, seeming to be the same lost little girl she had been eight years previously. But nothing is the way it seems and when the secrets start pouring out, the fate of the entire country becomes placed in Addie's hands. When I saw the cover of this book, I immediately assumed it was some historical fiction war novel that I had no interest in reading. When I actually looked at the back cover and read the synopsis, I almost jumped for joy. This book hits all my book wants with a thrilling plot, tons of secrets, a little romance (I wish there was a bit more), and a contemporary setting that still feels adventurous. I also happen to love books with a political theme to them because I love government (might be why I hope to be a judge some day...). I had three issues with this book. First, the characterization of Addie was done in a way that was meant to keep you asking questions about her secrets, but it wasn't pulled off. The author either needed to be moree ambiguous or give Addie a slightly more relatable and believable personality, because she feels very robotic and fake. Second, the point of view was constantly changing up and we would get information from an unnamed character or the main character, or some minor character. Now this when done right (cough cough Cassandra Clare) can be a really great way to tell a story, especially if it is a series and we get lots of time for characterization of our main character. This book is a standalone and this style resulted in a lot of confusion and missed opportunities for us to relate to Addie more. Finally, while the book had a lot of twists and turns, the areas that were meant to be big shockers were easily predictable, and that made them big disappointments. There were too many hints about what was coming and that made the book a lot less enjoyable. Overall, this book was super entertaining and a fast read. I gave it four stars because despite its faults, the author got their message across and created a very enjoyable read. I would recommend this if you are in a reading slump and need a fast paced standalone to get you back in the reading mood.

Readers will be sucked into the fresh science fiction romance created by Michael Grant in Eve and Adam. After Evening is in a terrible car crash, she is rushed to her mother's research facility by a mysterious boy. Day after day passes and Eve swears she will die of the mundane cycle that is her new life of healing. Luckily, her mother has an idea, create the perfect boy. So Eve sets to work on her perfect man, but what happens when he becomes a reality? I adored this book! I found it randomly one day at the library and just fell in love with it. I read it all in one sitting and I haven't read it since, but I still remember just obsessing over it. The story has great elements of humor and dramatic irony. There is also a great feeling of mystery as well as a super intriguing romance. I was very happy for a few seconds when this book appeared to be a series, but it turns out that there is only a short story companion, which totally crashed my mood. Overall this book is fantastic and is a total page turner. I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of a good new science fiction novel, a love story, or needs something to get out of a reading slump!

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson will sweep readers off their feet with an adorable story of romance, friendship, and moving forward in life. Amy did not expect for her life to turn out like this. It's the summer before her senior year and her mother is forcing her to move from California to Connecticut. After her father's death, Amy is emotionally unable to drive, so she is not looking forward to the road trip required to meet her mother in their new home. Luckily, Roger is there to take the wheel. Roger and Amy haven't seen each other since they were children, but they have a long trip to catch up, especially since they have decided to ditch their set route and take a detour. As their trip starts to travel into uncharted territory, so do their feelings, but the trip has to end sometime. This book is so wonderful. As with every Morgan Matson book, the characters are completely three dimensional and have great emotional development. I loved how this book had pictures and a travel scrapbook throughout the story as it was cute and really added to the story. I really enjoyed how this was more than just a romance novel and how both Amy and Roger have problems they have to overcome. I love the idea of taking a road trip and the idea of a detour even more. Overall, this is a really great story and it is perfect for romance lovers and those in need of a sweet story.

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and VirtueThe Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be swept off their feet by this adventurous, historical, humorous romance that is The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. Henry Montague dreads nothing more than his impending duty as a British Lord. He is much more content to live out the 18th Century getting hammered and into trouble with his best friend Percy. He can barely contain his excitement to be leaving for his grand tour with Percy, imagining it to be lounging around, having fun, and hopefully discovering if his undying love for Percy is unrequited or not. When Henry's father ruins this by sending someone to watch over them, the trip looks like its going to be extremely boring, until Henry steals something he shouldn't have and sets himself, his sister, and Percy on the adventure of a lifetime. I adored this book! I love it when books are set in historical times, but the characters act more modern. In some ways this book reminds me of My Lady Jane which I also loved! The plot of this book was not at all what I was expecting. I thought this was going to be an LGBT romance novel set in historical times, not an adventure story with excellent character development. While the characters are definitely made a little more extreme to be entertaining, they are still very realistic and have interesting emotional development I would recommend this book for romance, adventure, and history lovers and people who love great plot, but don't want to read a whole series. And I Darken (The Conqueror's Saga, #1)And I Darken by Kiersten White
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

With fantastic characters, beautiful scenery, and an epic storyline, And I Darken by Kiersten White brings a whole new perspective to young adult historical fiction. There is nothing Lada Dragwlya loves more than her homeland of Wallachia. So when she and her brother Radu are ripped away from their father, the prince of Wallachia, in order to become prisoners of the Ottoman Courts, Lada makes a promise that she will one day return home. The one thing Lada hates more than the Ottoman Empire is being underestimated for being a girl. Lada knows she is stronger than all the men combined, so she sets herself to plotting her revenge. That is, until she meets Mehmed, the intriguing son of the Sultan. In Mehmed, Radu finally has a friend and Lada someone to give her heart too. Can Lada open up her love to more than Wallachia? I can not completely describe how amazing this book was. I picked it up because I am a terrible person who totally judges books by their covers. When I read the synopsis I expected something along the lines of My Lady Jane or The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue, historical fiction with more contemporary characters. This book was so much more. I happen to love history and god do I wish a history text book was written like this! Of course a lot of the history in this book is from the author's mind, but the basis was so well researched and historically accurate. This book actually inspired me to do further research into the Ottoman Empire, which earlier in the year I had found totally boring. The three best things in the book are; the characters, the history, and the incorporation of Islam into the book. That of course can fit both into the characters and the history categories, but it was so fascinating that I think it needs it's own shout out. This is not a religious book, please don't stop reading this review because you think it is, it is a historical book. Islam was a major part of the Ottoman empire and the author handled it really well and completely enriched the story. The characters in this book are horrible and I love it! I can not say any more without spoiling the book, so go read it! This book is perfect for lovers of history and intense characters, though it is not for everyone. I would not recommend this book for people who want a basic storyline, a quick read, a comedy, or a basic romance novel, because this book is none of those things. View Full Review

Matched (Matched, #1)Matched by Ally Condie
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤
Series rating: ❤❤❤❤
Where the series went wrong: Reached ❤❤❤

Matched by Ally Condie will feed your addiction to dystopian romances with a fantastic story that will leave you begging for more. Cassia is ready to be matched. She knows the government will pick someone she will love because they always pick correctly. They chose everything in her life; where she will work, what she eats, when she will die. When Cassia finds out she has been matched with her best friend Xander, she knows they have picked perfectly. But the screen doesn't just show a picture of Xander, for a second it shows a picture of Ky. Now Cassia must make a choice of her own that will lead her to see how her society really works. Matched is one of those books that came out right as the young adult dystopian craze started up. I can completely understand why people could not stop reading Matched as it is fantastic! Matched is layered with a lot of commentary about society in it, that I feel a lot of younger readers are not able to pick up on. I recently reread it and was amazed by everything I had missed. In addition to this, Matched has a fast paced storyline, interesting characters, and a well built world. The one thing that the Matched series suffers from is setting up a story that then completely changes in the later books. I really loved this book and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a part of the dystopian fad.

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)Across the Universe by Beth Revis
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Where the series went wrong: Shades of Earth ❤❤❤

Beth Revis gives us a beautiful science fiction story of romance, technology, space, and the future in Across the Universe. Amy barely agreed to be frozen for 300 years on the spaceship Godspeed in order to travel to a new planet and she definitely did not agree to be woken up 50 years early. Suddenly, Amy is thrust into a new society where she is utterly alone, except for Elder, the young leader of the ship. Elder has never seen anyone like Amy before and he is mesmerized by her. Eager to please, Elder helps Amy learn about life on Godspeed. Together they realize there is more to Amy being woken up then meets the eye, and Amy and her parents lives are in danger. As the secrets start to unravel, Amy and Elder realize that Godspeed seems to run on lies and any sort of future together may be doomed. I picked up this book in middle school due to its gorgeous cover and it took me barely a chapter to realize that I loved it. The story is fantastic and the romance is beautiful. I spent many years believing this was a standalone novel as the ending is fantastic and it was not until a couple of years ago that I realized there were more books. Sadly, the rest of the series is not quite as good as the first book. One thing I loved about this book was the society on Godspeed. It was so well crafted and original and it really brought something more to the story. I would highly recommend this book to science fiction lovers!

Where the series went wrong: Bitterblue ❤❤

Katsa is a graceling, a person with two different colored eyes who possess magical abilities. While the the gifts might seem like a blessing, it curses the graceling to a life out of their control, serving their royalty. Katsa has been graced with the ability to kill and is forced to serve her Uncle, the king, by killing off his enemies. Katsa had ruled out all happiness in life until she met the fascinating Prince Po. Graced with combat, Katsa and Po form an unlikely friendship that threatens to out secrets that will change their lives as they know them. This book is phenomenal in every way. The characters are extremely well developed and entertaining. The plot is action packed and full of surprises, yet it is not confusing. The world is extremely creative and well explained and truly transports the reader. I read this book in middle school and it completely opened me up to the fantasy genre. One thing that the author handles perfectly in this book is romance. This book is in no way a romance novel. It has really well balanced romance in it, so that romance lovers and everyone else will enjoy it! I would highly recommend this book to anyone as it contains things that all readers will enjoy!

The Selection (The Selection, #1)The Selection by Kiera Cass
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Where the series went wrong: The Heir ❤❤

Kiera Cass brings a whole new story full of romance and fierce competition set in a dystopian world that readers won't be able to get enough of in The Selection. America is happy in her meager life as a five. She has her family, her music, and her secret boyfriend Aspen, who shows signs of proposing. So when an application for the selection shows up on her doorstep, there is no way she is going to jeopardize her happiness for the tiny chance of becoming the uptight Prince Maxon's plaything and the Princess of her country. When a course of events cause her to sign up, America is astonished to find she has been selected. Upon arriving at the castle America has her heart set on going home, but the palace and the people in it are not what she expects and America finds comfort in the arms of the last person she would have ever thought to look too. The Selection is one of my all time favorite books. I love the world that Kiera Cass has built and the characters she brought to life. America Singer may be one of my least favorite characters in all the books I have read, but I love her for it! The romance in this book is so agonizing as what is very obvious to the readers takes its time to appear to America. The plot in this book is very well done and works really well through the whole series. The character development is just so fantastic as we get growth from both major and minor characters that feels realistic and relatable. While the world is a little confusing at first, it is well explained and all questions are answered. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and science fiction!

Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia
My rating: ❤❤❤❤
Series rating: I did not finish the series
Where the series went wrong: Beautiful Darkness ❤❤

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia is a whirlwind of plot twists, romance, and magic that is sure to keep readers entertained until the very last page. The small town of Gatlin holds very little for Ethan Wate. He can't wait to escape both the town and the dreams of a gorgeous girl he has never met. When Lena Duchannes moves into town an aura of secrets seem to surround her. Lena holds a power that has been passed down from her family for generations and must hide it from the town of Gatlin. Lena and Ethan find themselves drawn to each other and soon feelings start to grow, but can Lena give up her secret? First off, this book might be one of the most confusing books I have ever read. While I very much enjoyed reading it, I had to reread the ending several times to understand what was happening. The romance between Lena and Ethan is fantastic! I loved how the author made it a large part of the story, but still focused on the plot. The element of magic is very important in the book and it was very different from other books I have read. I also loved the setting and how being set in a small town in the south really enriches the story. Overall this book is really good, but the rest of the series not so much. I would recommend this book to fans of romance, magic, and fantasy.

P.S. I Like YouP.S. I Like You by Kasie West
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

P.S. I like you by Kasie West will make you smile, while warming your heart. Lily lives a crazy life with her insane family and lovable best friend. One boring day in chemistry Lily jots down a song lyric and to her surprise the next day the song is continued, along with a note. Soon Lily and her pen pall are writing everyday; sharing stories, songs, and secrets. Between her pen pall; her crush Lucas finally taking notice of her, and her best friend's ex-boyfriend Cade seeming to be all over her life, Lily's life seems to be blowing up. As her feelings start to grow for her pen pall, Lily must decide what she wants. This book is so cute and adorable that you just want to pinch its cheeks. While the writing is not complicated and the characters are not especially deep, it is exactly what I wanted. The story is comforting and like wearing an old, loved sweater. Lily is a very relatable character to young adults and I loved how sweet she was. The story was kind of predictable, but with this kind of book, this is kind of expected. I loved this book and it was a perfect read for the mood I was in. If you are looking for an intellectual read, this isn't it, but if you want a cute comfort read or just have something for a lazy day, pick up this book!

Thirteen Reasons WhyThirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤
How much will this book make me cry?:😭😭😭

The pain and honesty of Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher will leave readers raw and horrified, yet still craving more. When Clay finds a package on his doorstep the last person in the world he would expect it to be from is his crush Hannah, especially since she committed suicide two weeks before. The old cassette tapes allow Hannah to narrate the story of death, giving 13 reasons why she ended her life. What shocks Clay is how he is one of the reasons. This book shares how all the little and not so little ways we interact with others can have a catastrophic impact on their lives and if they choose to keep living them. I read this book before I started really getting into YA books. I don't remember why I picked it up, I think I had gotten a Barnes and Noble gift card and this book popped up under teen books. What I do remember is not leaving the couch for four hours in an effort to not put the book down. This book is part of what got me into loving reading. As someone who has never dealt with depression, reading about it in such a beautifully put together way was shocking. I have only read this book the one time, but it still sticks out in my memory how engaging the plot was; how funny the dark comedy of Hannah's narration was, how much the characters grew and changed in a very short time period. I loved this book and I recommend it to all young adults as I hope they will love it too.

It Ends with UsIt Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤
How much will this book make me cry?:😭😭😭😭

This emotional masterpiece showing the darker side of love will leave readers reaching for the box of tissues in It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. Lily was never one to give up. Growing up in an abusive household has made her even more determined to get what she wants out of life. After making a shocking speech at her father's funeral, Lily meets Ryle Kincaid, the handsome neurosurgeon who she can't seem to stop thinking about. Suddenly all of Lily's dreams are coming true and she is happier than ever. But when her old love Atlas Corrigan resurfaces, Lily has to reevaluate her feelings. Is her love for Ryle greater than her old feelings for Atlas? This book is extremely powerful. Colleen Hoover packed in so much personal experience into this novel, causing it to give off a very impactful message. The idea that you can love someone, but also hurt them is explained so perfectly in this book. It is hard to explain all of the literary devices at work without giving away the story, so I will keep this pretty short. There is a very large theme of abuse in this book and how it affects not only the person being abused, but also the people who care about them. As expected with every Colleen Hoover novel, the book unravels almost like a mystery. The characters show tremendous growth in a relatively short book. The setting is well done, the plot is interesting and engaging. Basically, this book is spectacular and you should read it. This book deals with mature subject matter and it is not for all readers.

ButterButter by Erin Jade Lange
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤
How much will this book make me cry?:😭😭

Readers should prepare themselves for this dark comedy showing the true effects of depression; loneliness, bullying, and obesity in the stunning novel Butter by Erin Jade Lange. At 423 pounds, Butter, as the world calls him, is the picture of obesity. With no friends; a world full of bullies, and no real reason to live, Butter has decided to take matters into his own hands. He is going to be the first person to eat himself to death and live stream it on the internet. When his tormentors at school get wind of his plans, Butter expects ridicule, but instead gets popularity based on their morbid fascination with his plan. Butter finally has friends and it looks like the girl he has been in love with forever might finally notice him. As the due date for his suicide approaches, Butter isn't sure if he will be able to go through it, why give up when you finally have something to live for? I read this book after a marathon of Fat Kid Rules the World and Skinny. I don't know what I was thinking because I couldn't stop crying for the rest of the day. This book is so impactful and it gets at a mindset I feel like we don't see a lot of in books. The writing in this book is actually very funny and the author uses a lot of dark comedy to portray Butter's personality. I loved this as it created a balance between the sadness and the horrifying reality of Butter's situation. This book shows a different side to eating disorders that I feel a lot of people overlook, but are equally important to spread awareness about. I would highly recommend this book to all young adults because it is just funny enough to capture the attention of people who would not usually read a book like this as well as it promotes education about important topics of everyone.

PaperweightPaperweight by Meg Haston
My rating: ❤❤❤❤
How much will this book make me cry?:😭😭😭

Readers will be shocked by this emotional masterpiece guaranteed to make you bawl your eyes out in Paperweight by Meg Haston. 17 year old Stevie has lived a hard life, and she is ready for it too end. Stuck in an eating disorder treatment center, she has lost all control of her life, and is being forced back into the state she views as fat. Worst of all, they won't even give her satisfaction of being anorexic. No, instead they call her bulimic, reiterating her knowledge of just how weak she is. But it's okay, it only has to last for 27 days, just until the anniversary of her brother's death. Then she can repent for her role in losing her brother, by giving in to the sweet, sweet, release of death. This book was so well put together. The combination of flashbacks to Stevie's life and her meetings with her therapist caused me to just cry my way through the whole book. The characters in this book were so complex, and some how, the author managed to give them the development most characters get over the course of three books, in just one. The writing in this book is very real and relatable: especially for young women dealing with body image issues. I would highly recommend this book to all young adults as it deals with so many issues that hit very close to home. This book makes you want to smile through the tears and I beg you all to read it!

Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern GeekPopular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek by Maya Van Wagenen
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will find themselves laughing so hard they need to run to the bathroom in the witty and honest memoir by Maya Van Wagenen that is Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek. Maya is an eighth grade outcast at her extremely poor middle school in southern Texas. With only one friend her family moving at the end of the year would go seemingly unnoticed until Maya finds Betty Cornell's guide to popularity from the 1950's. Written in diary format as Maya shares her attempt at popularity and her commentary as she tries everything from dieting to girdles readers are pulled through a whirlwind year of using age old tricks to break down modern stereotypes. As a self proclaimed nerd, this book really resonated with me in a lot of ways. The breaking down of social stereotypes in this book was wonderful and something I can relate too as someone who is very nerdy yet still has the confidence to walk up to a complete stranger and introduce myself to them. The humor in this book was fantastic and very honest and one of the main reasons I loved it so much. The fact that this novel took place when the author was in 8th grade made this book feel less like a memoir and more like a young adult novel and I think this really contributed to my ability to enjoy this book. Overall I would highly recommend this book for middle school and high school age readers because the struggles the author faces will resonate with them.

Angela's Ashes (Frank McCourt, #1)Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt can only be described as the epitome of a memoir. With comedy at its best Frank McCourt turns misery into true hilarity as he chronicles his life growing up dirt poor in Ireland. Even after the many tragedies that strike his family Frank McCourt still keeps a positive outlook on life and manages to find the story in everything whether its his miserable times in the Catholic Church or the angel on the seventh step who gives his mother babies. Overall I loved everything about this book. The writing was so raw and honest yet still brimming with comedy which made for a very interesting reading experience. There were so many points in this book where I wanted to cry out of sympathy for young Frank and only a minute later I would be laughing out loud at the joke that he had made out of his life. One thing that I found very interesting about this book was how even though we as readers can see how horrible Frank's family is to him the whole story is filled with forgiveness and we never hear of grudges held against anyone who was a part of his terrible life in Ireland. Frank McCourt's writing style is unlike anything I have ever read. He is ultra descriptive while still managing to be subtle and humorous and all of his writing has meaning. Even though his life deserves a major pity party Frank McCourt sure isn't throwing one for himself. His writing is not "Woe is me" as so many other memoirs are, in fact Frank McCourt actually appears to be great full for some aspect of his life. As someone who finds most memoirs to be fake and unenjoyable I was amazed by this book and I would highly recommend it as a must read in your lifetime kind of book. Angela's Ashes is very adult so I would only recommend for mature readers.

Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap FashionOverdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth L. Cline
My rating: ❤❤❤❤

Have you ever wondered how it is that your clothing can be so inexpensive? Have you ever put in any thought to the social and environmental effects of your clothing? Do you want answers for why your shirt fell apart the first time you washed it? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions then you should definitely read Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth L. Cline. Overdressed focuses on the effects that the fast fashion industry has had on the environment, the economy, foreign workers, the US, the slow fashion industry, and most importantly our clothing. I loved how varied this book was in both topics and evidence using interviews, personal opinions, and statistics to convey a message. Cline made this a great read with her comedic and descriptive writing style creating a very intriguing feeling throughout the book. Lovers of fashion, business, human rights, and the environment will feel right at home with Overdressed and would be very pleased with the issues it addresses. So whether you are fashion guru or just want to expand your knowledge I would highly recommend Overdressed to anyone in need of a good non-fiction read.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Anyone looking for the perfect romantic comedy will love the adorable and hilarious romance that is Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Anna is not happy about being shipped off to a boarding school in Paris. Not only does she not know any French she also doesn't know anyone at her new school and arriving senior year is not common. But it looks like her new school might also hold the perfect guy for her, perfect except for the fact that he already has a girlfriend. Will Anna be able to get the love of her life before the school year ends? Anna and the French Kiss is the kind of book you can always come back to and enjoy it as much as the first time you read it. I love Stephanie Perkins writing style because it is so lighthearted and it just adds to the romantic feel of the book. The characters in this story are the perfect balance between easy breezy romance novel and drama filled coming of age story. They each have little quirky traits that make them feel real and I especially loved Anna's love of films. Anna and the French Kiss is something I highly recommend for young adults looking for a good romantic comedy.

Bridget Jones's Diary (Bridget Jones, #1)Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

This laugh out loud comedy will have readers clutching their stomachs and shaking their heads in sympathy for poor Bridget Jones in the hilarious retelling of pride and Prejudice that is Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding. 30 year old singleton Bridget Jones just can't seem to get her life together. With her controlling self centered mother and smug married friends unable to see why she isn't married yet and her horrible job and even worse crush on her boss Bridget already has too much on her plate when her mother pushes her towards the stuck up and intolerable Mark Darcy at the annual turkey curry buffet. But as secrets and lies are revealed Mark Darcy might just be the best thing that entered Bridget Jones life. This book is just completely hilarious and such a fun easy read. I loved how the whole story truly is told in diary format because everything is just funnier seen through Bridget's eyes. Helen Fielding hit the ball out of the park with the elaborate mess that is Bridget Jones. The plot line of this book defies all logic and is completely unpredictable with so many twists and turns that its a wonder how the book still feels realistic. While this is an adult book it is also great for high school students and any one looking for a great comedy.

FangirlFangirl by Rainbow Rowell
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

All readers will find themselves being able to relate to something about this quirky, heartwarming coming of age tale that is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Cath is a girl full of worries and starting college is at the top of her list especially now that her twin sister Wren decided she doesn't want to room with her. Now Cath is stuck with an unlikable roommate whose boyfriend is always hanging around and Cath is so overwhelmed she can barely leave her room. Luckily she still has Simon Snow the extremely popular book series that Cath writes fanfiction about. But when things start to go wrong with both her father and Wren can Cath handle the pressure? This book was amazing. I swear I could stop my review right there because that is really all you need to know. I felt so much of myself in Cath from being a total fangirl to having anxiety about everyday life. The plot line of this book was so different from what I expected though I should have known by now that all of Rainbow Rowell's books will wow you. This story has the perfect mixture of drama, comedy, friendship, and romance with real, deep characters. Fangirl is a must read for all fangirls and everyone else who enjoys a good book.

An Abundance of KatherinesAn Abundance of Katherines by John Green
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

John Green has done it again and this time with more math! Readers will fall in love the hysterical coming of age story that is An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. If Colin knows one thing, its Katherines, considering he had been dumped by 19 of them. If being an almost genius had taught him anything it was that everything can be solved with math and while on a wacky road trip with his best friend he started developing a theory to explain love and help him finally find it. This is my favorite John Green book and its only partially due to the fact that I love math! I loved so many things about this book and I think my favorite aspect of it was how funny the whole thing was. Colin views the world in such a comedic way that this book hooked me from the first page. The characters in this book were hysterical and I was laughing out loud every time Hassan said something. The anagrams in this book were just another hilarious part of the intriguing personality that Colin has. This book was very honest and even though the plot felt completely unrealistic the characters were written with such an truthful feeling that felt logical and real. An Abundance of Katherines is the kind of book I think every young adult should read and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some comic relief.

Since You've Been GoneSince You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will find themselves laughing out loud while being inspired to finally pull out that bucket list in the heartwarming book about true friendship that is Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson. Emily can't imagine how she survived before Sloane, becoming Sloane's best friend pulled her out of her shell and into the world. But when Sloane disappears leaving only a bucket list behind, Emily must team up with some unlikely friends to cross off each item and bring Sloane home. I honestly loved everything about this book. In being forced to choose my favorite thing about it then I pick how quirky the characters are. Morgan Matson does such a great job creating in depth personalities for each of her characters and I felt like they were real people who I had spent a lifetime getting to know by the end of the book. The plot of this book was so unique and made me feel like I was a daredevil actually doing the crazy things that Emily was doing. Emily's personality really resonated with me and I think that other teens will be able to relate to it as well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be held spellbound while reading the captivating novel about the devious and heroic offspring of angels that is Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins. Good southern girl Anna Whitt is thrown face first into the world of sinful angels, nephilim, and Kaidan Rowe the extremely attractive bad boy with a startling heritage while still trying to hold on to her personal morals. Higgins’s colorful and mysterious characters keep readers intrigued and screaming at their books to know more. Higgins provides a fast paced plot and a continuous flow of conflict while also providing insight as to what really determines a person’s destiny. Anna’s constant struggle between light and dark though amplified will resonate with young adults. Readers should recognize that there is some profanity in this novel. Most fantasy enjoying teens will love both the action and passionate romance that this dark coming of age story offers. This is highly recommended for both public and high school libraries.

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1)Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will find their hearts racing from the heart wrenching, action packed new edition to the shadowhunters chronicles that is Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. Starting five years after City of Heavenly Fire, overworked Julian Blackthorn is trying to survive through the effects of the cold peace that tore his family apart, while his fierce parabatai Emma Carstairs is clinging to the hope of solving her parents murders. When something they never thought they would see again is returned, they find themselves ruling with love that binds them over the laws that control them, but that very love might be what destroys them all. The unpredictable plot twists make this novel all the more interesting. The overarching theme of love versus law really drives the character development and action in this book. The feeling of using your heart over your head and questioning the soundness of rules will really resonate with young adults. The intensity and passion of this book make it perfect for all readers and is highly recommended.

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Delirium by Lauren Oliver
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be held spellbound by the captivating, intense and breathtakingly romantic novel that is Delirium by Lauren Oliver. In a world where love is a disease and banned for the safety of the people all Lena wants is to lay low and get a good score on her evaluation so she can set up a good life after she is cured, but when handsome Alex bursts into her life her falling love may just be inevitable. I loved everything about this book and it is hard to pick what I loved the most but in trying to provide an explanation of how amazing this book is I would pick the excerpts from the rewritten history books and laws at the beginning of every chapter. These excerpts make the world completely believable and really well built. Romance in this novel was amazing and made me feel all the feels! I have to say I have never been more on the edge of my seat with character development than with this book. I was crying and screaming at my book trying to tell the characters what to do! Of course everything was perfectly timed in this novel and Lauren Oliver may just be one of my new favorite authors. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone because it is amazing! November 9November 9 by Colleen Hoover
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will have their breath taken away by the heart wrenching mysterious romance that is November 9 by Colleen Hoover. Fallon terrorized by events of her past has decided to move to New York away from her problems and her absent father. Ben an aspiring novelist with many buried secrets and when he meets Fallon on one fated November 9th they fall head over heels for each other. As the story progresses they meet once a year on November 9th and everything Fallon and Ben think is true starts to unravel. I loved the romance in this book. The writing was so spectacular that I felt like I was there in the book. The plot in this novel was so complex and amazing and all of the twists and turns were so unexpected and made the story rich and a complete page turner. I would highly recommend this book to any romance lovers. The romance is slightly mature and may not be appropriate for all readers. If there was a way to give a billion star rating I would! Here is my booktalk video https://youtu.be/y-Pdx9PLBJQ

My Lady JaneMy Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

My lady Jane by Cynthia Hand is the comical, magical story that you wish was in your history textbook. Lady Jane Grey is an outspoken book lover and cousin to the 16 year old King Edward. While most teenagers Edward's age would be focusing on when they will have their first kiss Edward has to deal with the fact that he is dying and he needs to set up his country for success after he is gone, which means marrying Jane off to G who is harboring more secrets than the fact that he is horse. I loved the hilarious interruptions from the narrators it made the story more engaging and less serious. The plot in this book being based off of history is very interesting and the magical elements of the story make the plot more engaging and surprisingly more believable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone of middle school to adult age and for history and magic lovers alike.

Lord of Shadows (The Dark Artifices, #2)Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Cassandra Clare has outdone herself yet again! Full of daemons, magic, fairies, shadowhunters, and of course romance, readers are sent on an emotional roller coaster by Clare's fantastic writing. Taking place directly after the events of Lady Midnight, Julian and Emma must face their future as life at the LA institute changes dramatically. With a new addition to the household, a new relationship, and a group of centurions inviting themselves over, the Blackthorn family has a lot to deal with, and will take readers on an adventure that will keep them guessing until the last page. Clare's ability to juggle so many characters while still giving them each their own emotional journeys makes this book and all her writing a must read. Lovers of Clare's other books will be pleased to see the appearances of beloved characters from her other novels and will be intrigued by how they play into the foreshadowing for this book and the rest of the series. Lord of Shadows is perfect for all YA fans especially fantasy and romance fanatics! I highly recommend this book and all other books in the Shadowhunter Chronicles.

Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1)Storm Front by Jim Butcher
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Jim Butcher has finally given us the perfect blend of mystery, thriller, fantasy, and humor with his creation of The Dresden Files. Ever looked up wizard in the phone book? Well that's where Harry Dresden is listed because he is Chicago's one and only wizard for hire. Got a ghost problem or a need for a magical talisman, he is your man, (just don't ask for any love potions!). So when some murders start popping up stinking of dark magic Harry is on the case helping out the local Chicago PD track down the villain. So what if most of them think he is a nutcase! Harry's dry and sarcastic humor keep readers laughing even through the more gory parts of the book. While the writing in this book isn't exactly complex the plot line is, taking the best aspects of a mystery/crime novel and combining it with the interesting world building of a fantasy novel, you are left with one crazy, complicated book. Sadly there are a lot more flat characters than round ones, leaving Harry as the only major receiver of character development, but Butcher makes up for it with the jam packed action in the book. I would highly recommend this book for readers of at least middle school age, though it is truly a book for all ages!

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Sarah J. Mass takes romance and fantasy to a new level, in the fast paced, hauntingly beautiful and entirely new retelling of beauty and the beast, that is A Court of Thorns and Roses. Feyre is fighting to survive as a poor merchants daughter, ignored by the family she provides for, and looked down upon by the wealthy towns folk. When she wanders too close to the wall that supposedly separates the human lands from Fae land, she encounters a wolf that looks too beautiful to be normal. When she takes her knife and kills the mysterious wolf her life is thrown off into a wild course where a fae beast comes knocking at her door and whisks her away to his palace in the spring court, inspiring a wild and complex romance. Mass creates a wholly original world in this book that keeps readers wanting to learn more. All of the characters in this book are so well crafted, with each of them having entirely their own personality. In a book with such a unique and confusing world one would expect the plot to be light in this first book, but Mass surprises us with a page turner full of the most wonderful plot twists and build up. I would highly recommend this book to romance and fantasy enthusiasts, though beware there is some mature material so make sure you know what you can handle.

Carry onCarry on by Rainbow Rowell
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Rainbow Rowell turned her fantastic cameos of the popular series she invented in her novel Fangirl into a full fledged book! Readers should be prepared for the full Rainbow Rowell experience of fantastic characters that resonate with you completely, beautiful romance, and well delivered humor. Carry On is the story of Simon Snow, an orphaned wizard attending his last year at a magical boarding school, while trying to defeat the insidious humdrum, and survive his friends and horrible roommate Baz. Only Baz didn't show up for school, and Simon seems to be the only one who is worried. As if being the "chosen one" wasn't hard enough, now the Mage is threatening to take Simon away from Watford, ghosts are popping up everywhere, and worst of all, Simon and his girlfriend Agatha are having major relationship problems. Rainbow Rowell takes the hardships we all experience as teenagers and translates them perfectly into a fantasy world. The characters, while they have magical abilities, feel so real and their emotional journeys are definitely akin to all of us dealing with high school and growing up. Rainbow Rowell also addresses the difficulties of discovering your sexuality extremely well in a way that many young adults can relate too. I would recommend this book to everyone I know as well as everything else written by Rainbow Rowell, though this book will be the best received by a young adult audience.

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be blown away by the hilarious, and romantic, supernatural thrill ride that is Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. Sydney Sage is an alchemist whose sole job is to protect humans from the creatures of evil; vampires. Living in constant fear of being punished for events of her past and her sister being forced to take her place, Sydney will do anything to get on the alchemists good side. So when she is given an opportunity to go to a sunny Palm Springs boarding school to protect the moroi vampire princess, Sydney jumps at the chance. Sydney must put her fears of vampires behind her as she faces many difficult challenges, from girl drama to mysterious magical tattoos. This book is part of one of my all time favorite series! Mead takes a different approach to the typical vampire romance novel, creating realistic characters that make the reader forget they are a part of the supernatural. Bloodlines, being an offshoot of the Vampire Academy series, takes the beloved characters from previous books and gives them a whole new story with new and in my opinion even better characters. The writing is not very challenging, but the characters have amazing development and the plot has endless twists and turns that never get boring throughout the whole series. I would highly recommend this book to lovers of comedy, mystery, the supernatural, and most of all romance!

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be whisked away into a new world of good vs evil in City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Clary Fray has had a typical life for 15 years with an over protective mother and her best friend Simon living in the city of New York. One night at a club she witnesses a murder she can't explain, her mother goes missing and she is thrown into the world of Shadowhunters, the mysterious guardians of humans from daemons. With the help of a inscrutable and gorgeous shadowhunter named Jace and his friends, Clary starts the adventure of a lifetime that will uncover all kinds of things about her past. Cassandra Clare takes old mythology to a new level in this book creating a very interesting read. The characters in this book have such interesting levels and connections that keep readers intrigued and guessing for the whole novel. The plot of this novel and the foreshadowing into the past is so wonderfully confusing that it makes for such an amazing read. I would say that Cassandra Clare is my favorite author of all time and the Mortal Instruments series is so fantastic! I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone! If you find that City of Bones is a little slow, stick with it! The books get much, much, better as they progress. Happy reading.

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

The Mortal Instruments continues perfectly in this second addition to the series, that is City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. Clary's life could not be more upside down, her mother is in a magical coma, and Valentine, the extremely evil and originally thought to be dead leader of the circle, is now her father. Don't forget, that she only recently found out she was a shadowhunter, and her new brother Jace wants her to learn more, while her best friend (turning out to be more than a friend) Simon, is her only connection to her former life. And just to make things worse, downworlder children are being murdered and it seems to be up to Clary and her gaggle of shadowhunter friends to figure out who the culprit is. I have to say I loved how much action was packed into this book. Cassandra Clare did a great job keeping things interesting and continuing character growth. The plot and character development/emotional development were the best parts of this book. While this is my least favorite book in the series, it is still a fantastic read and I would recommend to continue with the series. And if you haven't read City of Bones yet, then what are you waiting for? Go read it!

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3)City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be stunned by this masterpiece of action, romance, and emotions that is City of Glass by Cassandra Clare. Continuing after the events of City of Ashes, all Clary wants is for her and Jace to be like normal siblings, and for their mother to wake up from her magical coma. When Clary gets wind of a Warlock who might be able to cure her mother, she is up for the challenge. The only problem, he lives in Idris, and Jace has his heart set on Clary staying at home. But when something goes terribly wrong while trying to portal and puts Clary's life in danger, will she be able to survive and still save her mother? City of Glass is my favorite book in the Mortal Instruments. I love how much action is packed into just one book and Cassandra Clare has outdone herself with the round characters and overall emotional development. The symbolism in this novel relating the struggle between downworlders and shadowhunters to the issues we have with racism in our world currently is fantastic and gives the reader a new perspective on how we deal with problems. If you have started the Mortal Instruments and are trying to decide whether or not to continue, please do! This novel is truly fantastic, so don't deprive yourself of it!

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be swept off their feet with the shocking continuation of the Mortal Instruments series that is City of Fallen Angels, by Cassandra Clare. The Mortal War is over and everyone is home safe and sound. Clary can finally call Jace her boyfriend and her brother Sebastion and father Valentine are dead. Now she can look forward to spending time with her mother and finally getting some real training. But when Jace starts acting strange and pushing away from Clary and Shadowhunters are being murdered, Clary starts to worry that all might not be well. This book is not what I expected it too be, in a fantastic way! Cassandra Clare does not rest, nor do her characters because this book is a conflict sandwich! What I found so interesting in this book was the development of Clary and Jace's relationship. They are finally together, but Jace immediately starts to pull away starting a whole new line of plot that will continue throughout the series. Overall this book is just like everything else Cassandra Clare has written, amazing! I know you can stop reading after City of Glass because it seems like the plot wraps up nicely, but believe me you want to continue!

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers should expect greatness from the dark, fantastical romance that is City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. Times are grim for Clary as she realizes that Jace has been bound to her evil brother Sebastian. One cannot be harmed without harming the other and Jace it seems has been lost to the darkness of Sebastian. Its up to Clary to try and save Jace from not only Sebastian, but also the Clave, which means running away with them and trying to take them down from the inside. But is Jace too far gone to save? City of Lost Souls brought a whole new level to Cassandra Clare's writing. It was delightfully creepy and had such a haunting romance too it that was so different from her past works. I think the fact that we are still able to learn new things about the shadowhunter world this far into the series makes it that much more interesting for the reader. Because Jace is not himself in this book the emotional development focuses more on Clary and the rest of the gang in a way that is so satisfying for the reader. Honestly I think some of the best writing in the series is in this book. I would recommend it to anyone with a pulse!

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be taken to a new level in this stunning conclusion to the Mortal Instruments series that is City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. War has broken out turning shadowhunter against shadowhunter. The infernal cup is creating Endarkended warriors, and Clary's brother Sebastian is behind it. Clary finally gets Jace back, but with a consequence, heavenly fire runs in his veins and he can not be touched. Surviving shadowhunters have gathered in Alicante, but wards won't protect them for long. It is up too Clary and her friends to save everyone, sparking an adventure that will take them deep into the daemon realms where no one has ever come back alive. Will they make it back in time, or will this be the destruction of shadowhunters as we know it? This book was just spectacular! It concluded so well and yet still left me wanting more in the way only Cassandra Clare can. While some character lines wrapped up others were left unfinished as a way to continue into the next series which I loved. Readers of the Infernal Devices will be pleased to see some old faces appearing in this book giving us the ending we had been dying for before. The plot in this book makes the other books look like a one chapter book. So much happens, yet it all flows so smoothly. At this point I highly doubt you would read the first five books and stop now, but if you are considering it, stop because you are being stupid! Read this book, you will thank me!

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1)Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will not be able to put down the enthralling tale of magic, daemons, love, and humanity, that is Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. Tessa Grey has never traveled outside of New York until in 1878 her brother Nathan summons her to London. But when Tessa is kidnapped and subjected to magic she didn't know was inside her, all she can think of is her brother and how to save him. So when she is saved by Shadowhunters who are willing to help her find her brother, she is thrown into the shadowworld and the lives of the mysterious and attractive Will Herondale and James Carastairs. Their search will take them all over London and into the Pandemonium Club full of dangerous Vampires. Will they be able to save Nathan before its too late? I love this book! I mean like its my second favorite book written by Cassandra Clare, the first being the last book in this series. The story line is so fascinating and the characters are amazing in every way. The character development is fantastic and the humor is out of this world. The action starts right from the start and there is no pesky,, boring world building and instead they just throw you in which worked very well. I would say that I love this series more than the Mortal Instruments series though I highly recommend them both. If you answer yes to liking fast paced fantasy, historical fiction, romance, or humor than Clockwork Angle and the whole Infernal Devices series is right for you!

View all my reviews Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2)Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

This epic continuation of the Infernal Devices takes readers to a whole new level of romance and fantasy. Tessa finally feels safe at the institute, even though the Magister is out to get her she knows that Charlotte, as head of the institute, and Will, and Jem will keep her safe. Except the Clave is trying to remove Charlotte from her power which means Tessa will be kicked onto the streets to the mercy of the Magister. In an effort too understand Tessa's power, Will, Jem, and Tessa travel to the Yorkshire institute where as they encounter horrible things, Tessa struggles with her growing feelings for Jem and Will. Can she find it in her heart to pick one of them? I loved the setting of this book specifically. The infernal Devices has the scenery of Victorian London that adds so much to the story. The emotional development for both Tessa and Will is intense in this book as they both grow so much. The relationships in this book keep you entirely on your seat and make you want to scream at Tessa to just pick a guy already. One thing I really enjoy about Cassandra Clare is how the minor characters in all of her books are round characters that definitely get their own story. If you are on the fence about reading Clockwork Prince, then I can't understand you because I couldn't put these books down. And if you haven't started the series yet, than get on it!

Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices, #3)Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers won't be able to put down this breathtaking finale to the Infernal Devices series that is Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. In effort to live their lives to the fullest before Mortmain trys to take over with his infernal devices and Jem's sickness takes his life, Tessa and Jem are engaged to be married. Will is finally able to let others love him, and his best friend has captured the heart, of the love of his life. With the army approaching and Jem's bodily slowly loosing its will to live, Tessa realizes that she is the only one who can keep her friends safe and has to decide whether or not too give herself to Mortmain. Can they overcome the clockwork creatures or will Tessa become the key to the end of shadowhunters forever. This is my favorite book of all time. I love, love, love everything that happens in this book. Cassandra Clare truly knows how to do a love triangle and I wish all books could end like this. All of the characters in this book have such great development in this book and their growth just leaves you wanting more. Basically this book is marvelous and if you have made it too this point then I would hope you would continue and read this novel. What more can I say other than get reading!

Eliza and Her MonstersEliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers should expect a fresh perspective on life in the comical and heart wrenching wonder that is Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia. Eliza Mirk is a nobody in person, no friends, weird, never talks. Eliza Mirk is a legend online, or at least her web comic Monstrous Sea, written under the name LadyConstellation is. No one knows except online and Eliza likes it that way, that is until Wallace Warland transfers in to her school. Wallace Warland is Monstrous Sea's most popular fanfiction writer, and now the most important person in Eliza's life, just one problem, she has no intention of telling him who she is. This book took me completely by surprise. I was expecting a typical YA novel with a little romance thrown in to it. What I got was a beautiful story about excepting your identity and preparing for your future. Francesca Zappia created extremely interesting round characters that grow throughout the whole book. The emotions of these characters just blew me away and felt so real and at one point even made me cry. I would highly, highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially young adults as this book will really resonate with them. View Full Review

The Vegetarian by Han Kang is the most confusing book I have ever read. I read this book as an effort to expand my reading and I was very disappointed. The basic plot line is advertised as a young women who becomes a vegetarian in order get rid of her traumatizing nightmares of blood, violence and meat. While this is the first 60 pages the other 120 pages are an inconsistent mash up of horrible perverted characters and extremely confusing events. After reading this book I was left feeling unsatisfied and unknowing of any of the characters fates. While this book was relatively short each sentence felt three times as long as what I normally read and the whole thing felt like a run on short story. The only redeeming factor of this novel was the descriptive tone the author used. I wish I could say that I enjoyed the writing but sadly the fact that the plot was so confusing clashed with the poetic description and just created chaos for the reader. Honestly the main problem I had with this book was the fact that it was utterly unrelatable to me. This book contained adult characters, a foreign culture and setting as well as many beliefs that I don't share. The characters made so many decisions that I don't understand or agree with and this caused many problems for me as a reader. Overall I was very disappointed in this book and I would not recommend it to anyone who does not already enjoy worldly adult novels and especially not to anyone who only reads young adult such as myself. The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
My rating: ❤❤❤❤

Readers will be will be kept guessing and on the edge of their seats throughout the engrossing fantasy novel that is The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. Princess Lia is a first daughter being forced to hold up centuries of tradition by having an arranged marriage to a Prince she has never met. In an attempt to live the life she always wanted she steals away to a small town on her wedding day. But Lia isn't the only one in disguise both the prince she was arranged to marry and the assassin sent to kill her are there for her both with their own missions, but can they follow through when romance starts to bloom? I loved how many plot twists this book had, and there were so many events I didn't see coming. The dramatic irony in this book was spectacular and the way the readers were kept guessing about who was the prince and who was the assassin kept the book very interesting. I especially loved the overarching theme of deception because it made the book feel almost like a mystery. I was disappointed in the lack of romance in this novel, but overall I felt that it was a very good read. I would recommend this novel to anyone of the young adult age range. View Full Review

I'll Give You the SunI'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will find themselves overwhelmed with emotions while reading the heart wrenching, brutally honest, coming of age story that is I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. The story starts out with Noah and Jude, twins, so close they consider themselves two halves of the same soul. But when tragedy strikes their family Noah and Jude's world turns upside down leaving them both heart broken and turned against each other. Told from Noah's view from the past and Jude's view from the present one magnificent story of many twists and turns is melded together leaving the reader not fully understanding until the very end. This book was so amazing I was unable to put it down. One thing that I loved was how art had such a strong presence in this novel. Jandy Nelson's writing style has so much symbolism and is chock full of metaphors and this gave the story almost a poetic feeling to it. Though with the fast moving plot line her writing sometimes overwhelming and a little confusing causing me to have to go back and reread. Overall this novel was entirely original and amazing and something that I feel everyone should read. This book does contain some mature content and may not be appropriate for all readers. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, #1)Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Be prepared to feel every emotion on the spectrum, because Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sánez is the most beautiful coming of age novel I have ever read. Ari is miserable. Being a teenager is the worst and summer seems to go on forever, that is until he meets Dante at the pool and makes the friend of a lifetime. Join Ari and Dante as they grow up together and learn about life, friendship, love, and all the secrets in the universe. I can not pick a favorite thing about this book because every page is amazing! The emotional journey that Ari and Dante embark on in this book is fantastic. I find that in a lot of coming of age novels the plot will fall flat, but that is the opposite in this book. While there isn't much character development for minor characters, the character development of Ari and Dante is amazing. I also love how even though this takes place in the eighties, the characters are the real stars of the book, not the historical aspect. I would highly, highly recommend this book to everyone!

A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird, #1)A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers should prepare themselves for this fast paced, romantic, thrill ride that is A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray. Set in the future, Marguerite Caine is the daughter of two physicists who have invented the firebird, a device that allows the wearer to travel into the bodies of themselves in alternate dimensions. Marguerite is enjoying her life as an aspiring artist living with her parents and their gaggle of research assistants, when suddenly her father is murdered and all signs point to is research assistant, and Marguerite's close friend Paul. When Paul disappears with one of the firebird prototypes, Marguerite and research assistant Theo, chase after him, landing themselves in dimensions like futuristic London, and Tsarists Russia. Marguerite is set to hate Paul, but when the other versions of him don't seem quite so murderous, she isn't quite sure how she feels anymore. I loved this book! This book honestly feels like a science fiction, romance, historical fiction, mystery, thriller, mashup. The settings in this book are so vivid, it truly feels like you have been transported to another dimension. The plot is fantastic and there are so many twists and turns, that keep it extremely interesting. The romance in this book is also insanely good! I would highly recommend this book to everyone, especially because of all the different genres. Also added bonus the cover is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!

Glory O'Brien's History of the FutureGlory O'Brien's History of the Future by A.S. King
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be amazed and horrified at the same time while reading the ultra feminist, thought provoking science fiction novel that is Glory O'Brien's History of the Future by A.S King. Glory is about to graduate high school and she has no idea what is coming next. Glory doesn't even know if she has a future or if she is going to follow in her dead mother's footsteps and stick her head in an oven. But when after one night she develops visions of a horrifying future for women she realizes that she may very well have a purpose. This book was amazing and showed me such a different view on how our future could unfold if women lose their place in society. I loved all the questions that Glory asked the readers throughout this book it really made me feel like she was directly talking to me. The horrific visions of the future that Glory gets made this story so original and very feminist and faraway and yet still believable. A.S. King's writing style is amazing and depressing and so deep and still has points of comedy and happiness. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone but especially to lovers of science fiction and feminist writing. The writing is slightly mature and is more to the age range of high school students and mature middle school students.

Alienated (Alienated, #1)Alienated by Melissa Landers
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be blown away by this fresh, science fiction, romance that is Alienated by Melissa Landers. Cara is an straight A student, a successful blogger, and captain of the debate team. When she is told that she has been accepted to be the first ever host to a L’eihr exchange student. Two years ago the alien race L’eihrs made contact with Earth bringing the cure for cancer with them and saving Cara's mothers life. Cara unlike many of fellow students has nothing against the L’eihr, but isn't quite sure what to make of Aelyx, who is seemingly cold and unfeeling. But when the L’eihr hatred gets violent, Cara and Aelyx have to rely on each other and unexpected feelings arise. This book is so different from anything I have ever read. I loved both Cara and Aelyx and the emotional growth they go through is written perfectly. I was able to relate completely to Cara (except where is my hot alien exchange student!?) and her struggles completely resonated with me. The plot of this book was fantastic and made me not want to put down the book! I also loved the humor in this book and it had me laughing out loud on several occasions. I would highly recommend this book to science fiction lovers and romance fanatics!

Surviving the Applewhites (Applewhites, #1)Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie S. Tolan
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Ready yourselves for a laugh out loud comedy for readers of all ages, because Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie S. Tolan might just become your new favorite book! Jake is a bad kid, who by 13, has gotten himself kicked out of every public school in Rhode Island. His grandfather has had enough of him and with his parents in jail, it looks like he is on the fast track to Juvie. That is until the Applewhites invite him to stay at their Creative Academy, the place where all of the artsy and completely crazy Applewhites are schooled. Jake is set on staying bad and getting himself kicked out, but when he forms a bond with the only non-crazy Applewhite E.D., and learns of a passion for acting, will he give in to his good side? I read this book in fourth grade and fell in love with it. This is the kind of coming of age story that you can relate to at any level and is always perfect for a good laugh. While the characters might be a little extreme, their core ideas are reflected all around us. As this is a middle grade novel, the plot is easy to follow and the book is short, but luckily the author is able to pack a great story in there and as I recently found out there are two other books in the series! I would highly recommend this book for kids from 4th grade for a challenge to 7th grade as an easy reading slump killer or before bed read!

The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1)The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Fans of Egyptian mythology and magic will be delighted at the, fast paced, humorous, adventure that is The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. After the death of their mother, Carter and Sadie have been separated for most of their lives, Carter traveling with his Egyptologist father, and Sadie living with their grandparents. When their father takes them to the British Museum in hopes of making amends, he accidentally releases the god Set, who captures him, leaving Carter and Sadie to deal with the fact that their father was secretly a magician. In a quest to save their father, Carter and Sadie will learn about the magical world they never knew existed and the history of their family, dating all the way back to the pharaohs. This book is what started my love of Egyptian mythology. When people think of Rick Riordan, they usually only talk about the Percy Jackson series, but I think he outdid himself with the Kane Chronicles. There is a reason you can find both fourth graders and 30 year olds reading this book, the writing is actually really good. The characters have great development, and mythology is so perfectly blended with modern culture. Honestly the best thing about this book is the humor, reading this never fails to crack me up! The only fault of this book is that I wish there were more than three books in the series! I would highly recommend this book for anyone but especially lovers of mythology and magic because it is pretty different from anything else you would have read before!

The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy (The Penderwicks #1)The Penderwicks: A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy by Jeanne Birdsall
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers should be prepared for an adorable tale, that will make them laugh while warming their hearts when they read, The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall. The four Penderwick girls are delighted to be spending their summer at the beautiful Arundel. With its sprawling gardens and amazing gingerbread cookies, the girls had already decided it would be a good summer, with the glaring exception of the horrible Mrs. Tifton who owns Arundel. But when they meet her son Jeffery the summer seems like it will be saved as he is the perfect companion to their adventures. Join the girls as they each embark on a journey of self discovery and lighthearted fun, that makes the reader wish that summer would never end. This book is so sweet, and wonderful, and it never wears old, no matter how many times I read it. I love how different each of the girls are and how much character development is able to be packed in such a short book! I found myself growing very attached to the characters and I was so thankful that there are more books and others still being written! This book just perfectly encompasses the joy of childhood and summer and the simple pleasures in life. I would recommend this book to anyone with a heart because it will certainly make you happy!

The GiverThe Giver by Lois Lowry
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

thought provoking, fantastic, timeless, and heart warming, are all words that describe The Giver by Lowry. 12 year old Jonas lives in a perfect world of sameness where there is no pain and unhappiness. Jonas is astonished when he is picked to be the receiver of memory, a job in which all of the memories of the time before their society are passed on from the giver, in order to protect the other members of society from having to experience them. In his time with the giver, Jonas learns that there is more than a world of black and white and what true emotions are and he sets himself on a journey to save his society from the world they created. This book should be read by every human being on the planet. Lois Lowry truly explains how in trying to save ourselves sometimes we destroy what is most important, our humanity. The characters and the world in this novel are so amazingly well thought out and reflect the trends of our world extremely well. There isn't much more I can say without giving the book away as the reader really needs to analyze the book while reading it. Basically, while this book maybe short, it certainly packs a lot of story and thought into it that will leave the reader with a perspective on the world around them. If you have a pulse, read this book!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

If you haven't heard about Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling yet then you must be living under a rock! Harry Potter is miserable living at his Aunt and Uncle's house where they treat him like a second class citizen. All he wishes is that his parents would have never died in the car crash that left him an orphan with a horrible lightning shaped scar. When unexplainable things start to happen around Harry and a bunch of very resilient owls carrying letters arrive, Harry learns that he and his family are not quite what he grew up believing. Harry is not only a wizard, but an extremely famous one at that and before he knows it, he is being shipped off to Hogwarts, the magical boarding school for wizards. But when trouble starts to brew at Hogwarts, Harry must rely on his newly made friends to help him save the whole magical world. I love this book which places me in the majority of readers! Harry Potter was a large part of starting the YA movement and genre which is something I am extremely grateful for! The best part of these books is of course the interesting plotline and the fantastic world that has been built. Of course the writing itself is not difficult to read and the idea of good versus evil is nothing new, but the way the books are written is so entertaining that it makes you want to place it in the genius category. Perfect for readers of all ages, but I would recommend starting it when you are younger so you can be the same age as Harry. I never got that experience, but people who did said it made the books even better!

Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1)Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

The Wizard of Oz is not what it seems in this twisted, fantastic, and darkly romantic retelling that is Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. Amy Gumm has no desire to save anyone, but when you get pulled into a tornado into the land of Oz, its kind of hard to say no. Oz is not what it seems as Glinda the Good Witch has to use an artificial smile, flying monkeys are being executed, the yellow brick road is practically gone, and Dorthy is drunk on her own power. Amy is recruited (Kind of against her will) to the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked where she is trained for a single purpose. Dorthy Must Die. I loved the dark humor of this book! Amy is such a great character and the minor characters have such well crafted personalities that really enrich her as a character even more. I think Dorthy might have been my favorite character because of her amazing transformation from the original book. I just love how horrible she is! The plot of this book is so jam packed with action even while being a pretty normal sized book. The best part is the characters as this twisted retelling is just so well done! There is a lot of sarcasm in this book and I think it worked really well to balance out the amount of action and character growth. I would recommend this book to lovers of retellings and sarcastic, slightly dark humor.

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will be blown away by this stunning, romantic, dark fantasy that is Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Celaena Sardothien is an assassin, ruthless, cunning, beautiful, unbeatable. Sadly, she is also a prisoner, and her only chance of being released is by becoming the kings champion, by beating 23 other competitors. Celaena has no doubt she can beat them, but as dark magic starts to stir in the castle, Celaena must find out the truth, as magic of all kinds has been banned by the King and the punishment is death. Celaena only wants to walk free, but she becomes intrigued by the mysterious Prince and the Captain of the Guard, as well as a visiting princess who might be her first friend. Celaena must follow her heart and defeat the magic before it starts to hurt those she cares about. Let me just start off by saying I love Sarah J. Maas. This story is so original and beautifully done. The world is very different from what I was expecting and my only complaint is that we don't get to know everything in the first book and are instead forced to keep hunting for more information. The character development is very interesting in this book and I don't know how Maas manages to spread her series out so long while still packing each book with emotional growth and fantastic plot. As a romance fanatic, I kind of wish the romance in this book was as good as in her Courts series, but that's just because I'm greedy and I want everything to have a ton of romance in it! I would recommend this book to just about anyone, but its really great if you love fantasy (though you can still like it, even if you don't like fantasy).

Sabriel (Abhorsen, #1)Sabriel by Garth Nix
My rating: ❤❤❤❤❤

Readers will love the amazing fantasy world that has been created by Garth Nix in Sabriel. Sabriel does not know very much about the free magic she possesses as the daughter of the Abhorsen. She spent very little time with her father as she went to a boarding school in Ancelstierre, but when her father goes missing, Sabriel knows she must travel to the Old Kingdom and find him. Sabriel must face her fears of the possibility of her fathers death and her birth rite as the Abhorsen, but she refuses to give up hope in his survival. I love the world that Garth Nix created with this book. Its so unlike anything else I have read. I know to new readers this book and its world may seem confusing, but the book will explain things really well so don't be scared off by it. While this book may be labeled as a coming of age story, I kind of disagree and I feel this is more of an adventure story, more of a hero's journey. I loved all the characters in this book, mainly because Nix has this way of seeming like there is no focus on character development, while still having huge emotional growth, so it feels so natural, and melds really well with the story. The world building in this book is amazing because it manages to make you feel like everything is real. I also loved how there is some really good humor in this book in the supporting characters that just pull everything together. I would recommend this book to all fantasy lovers. If you are not a fan of fantasy then you most likely will not like this book, but I would encourage you to try it any ways, you never know right?

The Winner's Curse (The Winner's Trilogy, #1)The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
My rating:  ❤❤❤❤

Readers should prepare themselves for a non-stop romantic thrill ride in reading, The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski. Kestrel, being the 17 year old daughter of a powerful military leader,, does not have many choices in life. She can either marry, or join the military to help the monstrous empire she lives in continue to enslave the surrounding lands. When Kestrel on a whim, buys a spunky slave named Arin, she is surprised to find comfort from him. Just as Kestrel's feelings start to grow, she realizes that Arin has a secret that could change her fate, and the fate of their world. My favorite part of this book was the romance! While it is pretty tame, the build up is good that it keeps readers completely on the edge of their seats. The character development is the best aspect of this book by far. While the world is very interesting I don't feel like it was as well built as it could be. The plot isn't really like an adventure story until the ending, but it still manages to keep readers very entertained, with a lot of twists. Overall this book is one you should read when you want something fun. It isn't super thought provoking, but it is interesting to read and definitely entertaining! I would highly recommend this book to romance and fantasy lovers and for readers 13 and up!

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman
My rating: ❤❤❤❤

Readers will be dazzled by this beautiful love story and feel that they just like the characters, are fighting to survive in, These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen could not be more different. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe, Tarver is a war hero stationed on Lilac's fathers' ship, the Icarus. When the impossible happens and the Icarus crashes, Tarver and Lilac are the only survivors. Stranded on an uninhabited planet, they must explore their surroundings and uncover the mysteries in order to survive and have hope in being saved. This book is like a science fiction version of the Titanic, except with a fantasy plot twist at the ending. I can't pick a favorite thing about this book because the majority of it was just so well done! I have to say this is the most beautiful cover I have ever seen and the rest of the series also has just beautiful covers. There are two amazing things about this book, the character development and the world building. The character development is obvious from the synopsis, but the world is entirely different from what I had expected. For me, this book feels like a mixture of AlienatedObsidianAcross the Universe, and Titanic. I loved this book except for the ending because it got very confusing which is why I gave it four stars. I would recommend this book to a certain kind of reader who loves romance, fantasy, science fiction, and plot twists!

God Is A WomanGod Is A Woman by Michael Tavon
My rating: ❤❤❤

Readers will shocked by the utter honesty and raw emotions that play such a large role in God is a Woman by Michael Tavon. Price Jones has led a life of tragedy. Growing up abused in the home of an addict, has scared him, and left him doubting his self worth. Now, he uses sex and drugs to cope with his perceived failure as an author, a brother, a son, and a person. When an former love walks back into his life, old emotions are rekindled, as well as old heartbreak. Will Price be able to rebuild his life and mend his broken heart, or will he give in to his inner daemons? I think calling this book a romance novel is very misleading. While romance plays a large role in the story, Price's journey for self-discovery is what really takes center stage. I am not really sure how much I enjoyed reading this novel. My usual pick of young adult, romance, fantasy, and around 800 pages, is pretty much the opposite of this book. Regardless of my enjoyment, no one can argue that this book isn't good. The characters show such a parallel to the misery and hardship of our world, and while the plot is uneventful, it accurately portrays the monotony and agony of every day existence. This book is definitely an adult novel and not for all readers. My reading experience suffered as I was not able to relate to the characters on any personal level, but for people who can relate to the characters, then this book could have a huge emotional effect on you and I would highly, highly recommend that you read it!  *Disclaimer I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review and this did not affect my review as my opinions and writing are 100% my own* View Full Review

Daughter of the Pirate King (Daughter of the Pirate King, #1)Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
My rating: ❤❤❤❤

Readers will love this nontraditional tale of swashbuckling pirates, and fierce female main character, in the fantastic adventure story that is, Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller. Alosa is the daughter of the fearsome Pirate King, and she packs quite the reputation herself. Sent on a secret mission by her father to find a treasure map, Alosa has to allow herself to be captured by a group of less then terrifying pirates, in order to search their ship. Alosa feels she has this one in the bag, that is, until she meets the ships first mate, the surprisingly smart and handsome Ridden, who is making things just a little bit difficult for Alosa. But Alosa doesn't scare easy, and a little romance never hurt trying to get information right? I read this book all in one sitting because I absolutely could not put it down! Its a pretty average sized book, but the story is jam-packed with adventure and action, and it totally transported me to a pirate ship! Alosa is a great character and her self discovery in this book is so relatable to young adult girls everywhere. This book does a great job of showing how women don't have to act like a man to be a badass, and how just because you may love dresses, it doesn't mean you can't take someone down in a fight. This was a very entertaining read, that definitely gets your adrenaline pumping, and I would highly recommend it to fantasy, romance, and adventure lovers!
